Barefoot Hands Bodywork

This review is regarding a session I had with Lily. I went into the session with no injuries and in good health, simply looking for a nice massage. Lily injured me during a session last month (there was actual blood shed), and created a wound that required treatment at Urgent Care. Upon going to pay for the session, I asked if there was a discount for blood shed, to which she laughed and said no and charged my card. I was in physical shock from the trauma and still processing what happened. I escalated it to Al, the owner, that day and later got a text from Lily that she comped my massage after more thought, acknowledging she made a mistake and didn’t mean to hurt me. I told her I understand accidents happen but it was pretty jarring and I was tending to the wound. I ended up going to Urgent Care shortly after to have it tended to. Lily had asked me to keep her in the loop, but once I received treatment and showed her the bill, she was nowhere to be found. Upon no response, I escalated to Al (owner), who said he was “not responsible” and “not to be involved” as Lily is an independent contractor, and he refused to step in and help. After multiple follow ups, Lily finally responded and said she would not pay (essentially because there was no witness in the room to say it was from her). It’s a massage…of course there’s no third party present. Clearly we both know it was her fault and she is skirting any and all responsibilities and human decency. I understand accidents happen, but how this has been handled is highly disappointing and completely unacceptable. I don’t normally write reviews, and always want to give people the chance to rectify the situation privately, but clearly Lily and Al have no desire to do that. What was supposed to be a relaxing experience has instead created loads of stress, feelings of being violated, helplessness due to lack of ownership on their end, and has cost me hundreds of dollars due to someone else’s negligence. I will not be returning, nor can I recommend this place as a result.

My partner and I went in for a couples massage and had an incredible experience! The vibes were tranquil, relaxing, and respectful. I received a footwork massage from Adam and he targeted my problem areas we had discussed and was responsive when I said the pressure was too much. My partner received a deep tissue massage from Momo and says it was the best she’s ever had. We highly recommend Barefoot Hands for couple or solo relaxation!

Was not sure what to expect being my first session but WOW. Kweku took his time to create a comfortable space to dive down into what my specific needs were. I’m very happy to find a self care service that truly takes the weight off my shoulders and allows me to relax. 10/10 will be returning regularly.
