I am absolutely thrilled to have discovered Red Beard Somatic Therapy. Alex demonstrates an impressive mastery of a wide range of skills and approaches, and it shows in the way he facilitates sessions. Thoughtful, compassionate, and highly skilled, he creates a space for deep learning and healing. I am truly grateful to have Alex as both a teacher and a mentor.

When it comes to sharing things that have been genuinely good for my body, heart, and soul, I’m a little incorrigible—I can’t help myself. Today, I feel compelled to sing the praises of TRE and to make my experience count for others who may be searching for relief.

I first heard about TRE from Dr. Eric Robbins, an MD whose judgment I deeply respect. One day, seemingly out of the blue, he asked me, “Have you heard of TRE?” I hadn’t. He replied, “You should really look into it. For patients like you, it can be the missing piece.” That phrase—the missing piece—landed with great force.

For context: I had consulted Dr. Robbins because of a chronic pain condition caused decades earlier by an incorrectly placed IUD, which injured my S1 and S2 nerves. Even minor triggers could cause severe, debilitating pelvic and leg pain.

Dr. Robbins was emphatic: “And you must work with Alex Greene. He’s the best there is. Wait as long as you need to—don’t see anyone else.” I listened. I put my name on the list and waited three months for an opening.

I had my first session with Alex in August 2023. From the start, I was deeply impressed—not only by the tremoring itself, but by the profound sense of nervous-system relief that resonated throughout my entire being. Alex’s presence stood out immediately: gently directive, collaborative, and exceptionally attuned. There was a kind of quiet, responsive “dance” between us that I recognized and appreciated.

For context, I am a Rolfer, trained and certified by Dr. Ida Rolf herself in 1974. I completed my PhD in 1984 and have spent decades studying and practicing somatic therapies with many respected teachers. After all these years, I’ve developed a fairly refined ability to assess both modalities and practitioners.

My assessment: TRE is indeed a major piece of the mind-body puzzle—and Alex practices it with exceptional skill, integrity, and depth.

Following those initial sessions, I committed to ongoing work with Alex and to a personal TRE practice. Over time, TRE gently but unmistakably brought to the surface layers of trauma associated with my injury—experiences I “knew” intellectually, but that my nervous system had never fully processed. This work was intense and, at times, deeply challenging. I know for a fact that I could not possibly have stayed with it without exceptional guidance.

Alex provided exactly that. His breadth of skill, care, and conscientious presence creates a safe container in which real integration can occur.

A year into this process, I decided to train as a TRE provider myself. The training was rigorous, enriching, and profoundly meaningful. I graduated in August 2025 with a clear mission: to help others develop agency, awareness, and respect for their own nervous systems, and to support healing with care and humility.

I am deeply grateful for the work of Dr. David Berceli and profoundly appreciative of Alex Greene’s mastery, dedication, and commitment to this work.

    So am I.

Therapy with Alex Greene at Red Beard has been a treasure in my life. I met him at a time when I was feeling burnt out and discouraged about therapy and somatic work after three years with a provider who ultimately wasn’t the right fit for me. I was ready to take a complete break when I came across Red Beard and reached out to Alex with a long list of frustrations. Even in our first 15 min consultation, I felt a sense of relief. Alex approached me curiosity and care, took my concerns seriously, and helped me feel heard in a way I hadn’t in a long time.

Over the past year and a half, going to Red Beard has gradually restored my sense of safety in therapy. Alex consistently pays attention to what is and isn’t working and thoughtfully integrates my feedback into our sessions. I also really appreciate that he never presumes to know something on my behalf or pushes an agenda, despite having expertise around certain therapeutic modalities.

Even as he’s come to know me well, Alex continually approaches our work with sincere and non-judgmental curiosity. This balance of familiarity/attunement alongside ongoing curiosity is a very very cool thing. It has made me feel consistently and genuinely cared for.

I’m deeply grateful for the care I receive here. (If I could somehow clone Alex’s skills to share with the people I love, I would!) Highly recommend this place. Thank you, Alex!

Red Beard Somatic Therapy is truly a special place. I’ve had the privilege of working with both Alex in the past and currently with Ellen, and each experience has been deeply supportive and transformative. Their Zen Integration bodywork is unlike anything else — intuitive, grounding, and profoundly healing. Both practitioners create a safe, compassionate space that allows real release and integration to happen. I always leave feeling more aligned, calm, and connected to myself. I’m incredibly grateful for their work and highly recommend them.

I have been working with a few of the redbeard coaches for over four years now and I am continually impressed with their professionalism.

Alex has been my the main coach I have worked with. His knowledge in the diverse issues that I bring to the discussion is really astounding. His care and personal investment in me warms my heart.

He seems to have gathered an amazing team around him. One of the coaches, Ellen, who teaches TRE is also quite amazing. Her knowledge of anatomy combined with her ability to translate that knowledge into practical methods of TRE has been a huge help in my recovery.

i have also worked with a few other of the team members and attended presentations and they were all of the best quality.

I am someone who has been doing therapy for decades and I have fired many a psychologist and therapist. I do tend to be critical of people in my recovery but this Redbeard team consistently exceeds my expectations.
